WOC Tour 2025 Accommodations Still Available
The next World Orienteering Championships for forest distances will be decided in Kuopio in July 2025. Alongside the World Championships, an open orienteering week, WOC Tour, will be held. The same competition terrains as the world’s top athletes will be available. Accommodations have already been booked at a record pace.
The final competition of the 2024 Orienteering World Cup is over, and now we are setting our compass towards the summer events. It’s worth starting preparations, such as securing accommodation if it hasn’t been done yet. There is still space available in Savo, but the best spots are starting to be snapped up.
The focus is on the Kuopio and Tahko areas, and there is still a variety of accommodations available in one of Finland’s most beautiful regions. Additionally, accommodation is available throughout the entire province, and the distances to the competition arenas are not long.
The event’s secretary-general, Sakari Hyvönen from Kuopion Suunnistajat, says that the arrangements are progressing well. The nerve center of the World Championships will be at the Tahko Hotel, and the main center of WOC Tour will be located on the other side of the yard at Piazza.
“Some of the award ceremonies for both the World Championships and WOC Tour will take place in Tahko. The competition information will then move according to the competition location, but the centers are in the Tahko area,” says Hyvönen.
TAHKOcom central booking office has been serving customers in Tahko for over 35 years. TAHKOcom’s sales and marketing manager, Sanna-Mari Niiranen, says that the July orienteering event is also visible in the bookings.
“Currently, 40 percent of the accommodations for the orienteering event have been booked. There are still 400 accommodation units available. Practically, the bookers are orienteering groups; tourists do not book this much at this time. Larger cottages and larger apartments have been sold,” says Niiranen about the situation in November.
The central location for the orienteering week is also Break Sokos Hotel Tahko. Hotel manager Anna Hämäläinen says that the renewed Tahko Hotel offers the competition organization and the international event the required facilities and services.
“We got more space in the yard area, and now the entire front of the hotel serves all events better with the new hotel building,” emphasizes Hämäläinen.
