The Kuopio Orienteering World Championships are approaching, and the world’s top athletes are already training and holding trials in the heart of Savo. Over 2,300 participants have already signed up for WOC Tour Orienteering Week, which takes place alongside the championships. There’s still a chance to be part of this grand orienteering celebration, as late registration remains open until June 22, 2025.
Competitors from 27 countries will bring an international flair to the terrains of Tahko, Puijo, and Neulamäki. The courses cater to both competitive and open classes orienteers, offering diverse routes and stunning landscapes. Additionally, participants can witness the World Championships live at the arenas with a race bib and even navigate some of the same control points as the world’s best.
Open classes orienteers can register until the very last moment, with discounted registration available until June 22. “Participants can also register on-site at event pricing, but early registration saves money,” says WOC Tour competition director Ari Kauhanen.
High-quality accommodation is available in Kuopio and Tahko, Nilsiä. With over 8,000 beds in Tahko and Kuopio’s extensive hotel offerings, participants will have excellent lodging options. There’s also a variety of side programs and cultural activities for those interested.
Courses are tailored to different skill levels and fitness conditions, offering an exceptional orienteering experience in near-national landscapes. The World Championships bring a unique opportunity to witness elite-level competition and the thrill of the sport. Don’t miss out—be part of this super week!
