Race invitation
Greetings from the Competition Director
The World Championships, in every sport, have a special significance for competitors, enthusiasts and fans of the sport. The World Orienteering Championships will take place in Kuopio in July 2025 and will be significant for the Finnish orienteering community in many ways. Finnish organisational expertise is trusted. The last World Orienteering Championships in Finland were held in 2013 in Vuokatti. Now is the time to experience new exhilarating experiences.
The public competition and open classes of the Orienteering Week will offer the opportunity to experience the same terrain and atmosphere as the top World Championships competitors. The programme includes sprint, long distance and three middle distance races, as well as open classes for recreational orienteers.
The event will be hosted at the Tahko holiday resort. Tahko offers an excellent setting for a race village. Accommodation, attractions and summer activities are plentiful. Our aim is to provide a public-friendly event for participants of the orienteering week, and for spectators of the World Championships. Throughout the organisation of the competitions, it has been great to see such enthusiasm amongst our organisation committees and partners. We hope it enables everyone to enjoy such a great sporting event.
Kuopio Orienteering Club is pleased to invite all orienteering fans to the arenas and forests to enjoy the atmosphere of the World Championships.
Welcome to the heart of Savo in Kuopio as a spectator, competitor or sports enthusiast!
Ari Kauhanen
